I created this illuminated pente board from scratch - just a pile of scraps lying around the basement. Well... at least most of it. I started off using an array of three-dozen LED bulbs, but that wasn't bright enough, so I had to purchase a bunch more - creating an new array of 225 lights. Oh... and I also had to ask my son to open his safe and give me a high-amperage resistor. Other than that, this project began as a pile of scraps. I made a stencil with my vinyl cutter, adhered it to a piece of plexiglass, spray painted and removed the stencil to create the grid pattern. I created an enclosing frame for the light array and plexiglass board and crafted four separate drawers to hold the playing pieces.
