I cut thick 1/4 inch acrylic into a perfectly symmetrical five-lobed shape and embedded a central bearing and two strong neodymium magnets in each leg. Because these were initially to be gifts for young children, I made the piece rather small - just 2.5 inches in diameter. The result is a gorgeous and well-spinning fidget device.  |
