Laser Cutting ~ Vintage Tractor Parts Etching

For no particular reason, I happen to have a few old tractor repair manuals in my workshop. I guess I'm just fascinated with the incredibly detailed schematics. I can't imagine how these were drawn - especially in the days way before computers...

So it seems somewhat fittingly incongruous that I would use one of these drawings as the basis for a piece of laser-cut art. This particular illustration is of the gearshaft of a 1948 Allis Chalmers tractor.

I etched a scan of the schematic on a piece of transparent yellow acrylic and illuminated it from below with a strip of LEDs. The piece measures about 6.25 x 9.5 x 1 inches.
